Last night’s update on the PTR included information about Tier 8 set bonuses. There was some initial confusion about the wording on the priests’ 4-piece bonuses, and while Matticus has updated information about the healer one, I’m still not sure of the correct wording for the Shadow Priest version.
Healer 2-piece Bonus — Increases the critical heal chance of your Prayer of Healing by 10%.
Healer 4-piece Bonus — Casting Power Word: Shield also increases spell power by 250 for 5 sec.
DPS 2-piece Bonus — Increases the damage done by your Devouring Plague by 15%
DPS 4-piece Bonus — Your Mind Blast grants you 15% haste rating for [until cancelled]
I’m not overwhelmed by either of these bonuses as a Disc Priest, which is actually a bit of a relief. I don’t like being strong-armed into wearing 2 or 4 pieces of tier gear in order to maintain a set bonus when there are other, better gear options for a particular slot. The Restoration Druid bonuses, for example, seem to be too good to pass up (With four pieces, Rejuvenation heals immediately, giving a big boost to a HoT that currently takes three seconds for its first tick.)
Of course, I think the look of the priest set is simply badass, and I’ll be coveting the gear for fashion not function. I abhor the T7 halo, and I love the T8 mask, which if nothing else, will help obscure my laughter at the female paladins’ armor.
Why must Paladins dress like hookers? Why?! Didn’t their mothers teach them better?
Serioudly though, I agree that these have to seriously be some of the weakest tier bonuses I’ve seen. Also, I’m a little miffed that the healing 4 piece is so obviously aimed at disc priests. The 2 piece only becomes worthwhile if you have PoH glyphed, but not attractive enough to forgoe a couple of pieces of better loot.
Though it is definitely one of the coolest looking tier sets out there this patch.

I’m with Dueg on this one, when I saw the 4 piece bonus I thought it is great for Disc priests who are going to be throwing around PW:Shields a lot now that they are off the 4 sec cooldown for them, giving them a constant extra 250 sp. Won’t be nearly as useful for holy priests who raid with other disc priests where we let them do the shielding.
But who knows they could change the bounses again before this goes live.
Still, I’ll at least get the robe and shoulders for the look, the mask looks more rogue like and not very priest like to me.
