As Khæli hasn't even hit the TBC level cap, let alone ventured into the Outlands, I guess I'm "behind." And as much as I do want to level her and Kaleyen — I know this is how K- and I will spend our weekend — we're both rather relieved to not be racing to 80.
We've done the nonstop-grind-to-level-cap-so-we-can-raid-right-away thing — the trauma is still pretty fresh in our memories for being about a year ago since the "Rise of Kunark" expansion; and I'm convinced the pressure to level was the major factor contributing to our burning out with EQ2.
The few times Kaleyen and Khæli ventured to Hellfire Peninsula last weekend, it was a madhouse. We elected to play on a (RP)PVP server, so I don't mind having to fight Horde in order to get to my quest mobs; I do get a bit resentful of groups of ??s ganking low level toons and/or killing our quest NPCs. But as we found out while leveling Khree and Kinolas, these are typically the poorest of PVPers, and once we are able to see their level and land our spells, they find us far too difficult to kill.
Regardless of whether Hellfire is empty or packed, we haven't been particularly keen to rush to the Outlands quite yet. Kaleyen wants to level his mining and blacksmithing, so he can harvest level-appropriate materials while we quest. (He should hit 300 mining tonight.) And we've also been working on the Eastern and Western Plaguelands quests in order to secure him Exalted faction with the Argent Dawn, in preparation for "The Argent Crusader" title. (And goddammit, [insert Deathcharger lament here]).
Once we return to the Outlands, our plan currently is to only quest in each Outland zone enough to get Honored with the local faction, then move on. On Kino and Khree, we completed all the quests in Hellfire and Zangarmarsh and almost all in Terrokar Forest and found ourselves level 70 without really setting foot in Netherstorm, Shadowmoon Valley or Blade's Edge Mountains. This time around, we'll spend a bit more time in those zones.
Maybe. Or maybe once we really start playing the shadowpriest and deathknight, we'll fall back into our hardcore-leveling selves and be in Northrend by Sunday night.
