There have been a couple of posts on World of Matticus
lately about healing tactics as a Discipline priest. New to the spec
myself, I found some of the suggestions very useful (including the "Five P's of Priesting: Power Word: Shield, Penance, Pain Suppression, Power Infusion, Prayer of Mending"); and last night, as
we ran through the last three instances I needed to get the Northrend
Dungeonmaster achievement, I found myself feeling more and more
confident in healing not just Kaleyen but the whole group. I am back
to using Grid/Clique, and I've also added a PoM-tracking add-on. I
want to devise a better system of managing my shields, Grace stacks,
and Divine Aegises. I also know I need to get better at using some of
my talents, particularly Inner Focus. And admittedly I've never
cast Divine Hymn
Most exciting in last night's instance-running was that Kaleyen hit the
defense cap. It was a bit humorous at the beginning of the night, for
despite a slew of phenomenal upgrades yesterday (including Wapach's
Shoulder of Solidarity and Titanium Earthguard Ring,
he was not at the cap for his level in terms of defense: 397/400. It
was a testament to the power of Bone and Power Word Shields that he
wasn't getting hit enough to raise that skill. And with a moonkin in
the group and some crit food, even without shielding, it was jolly
difficult to not proc a Divine Aegis on him.
But tonight we're going to tackle our first heroics, and hopefully it'll be my turn to get some much-needed gear upgrades.
